Our Patient Goals
The goal for all of our patients is five-fold:
1. Improve quality of life2. Improve functional status3. Improve ability to participate in activities of daily living4. Avoid or slowly discontinue use of pain prescription medications5. Avoid major surgical interventions unless absolutely necessary
This is what we strive for in each patient. The best way we can achieve this is for you to come see us early during your pain process. The best time is before you undergo surgery, receive injections, or begin taking prescription pain medications. While medications, injections, and surgeries are at times necessary to treat pain, they can at other times be counter-productive and worsen pain symptoms.
We understand that being able to see a patient early in his or her process will not always be possible. If you are in this situation, we are more than happy to help you too. Please keep in mind, however, that we do not write for prescription pain medications during the first visit and there is no guarantee that prescription pain medications will be written for at subsequent visits. This means you should not wait until the last day of your current prescription to come and see us. If we do decide to write for pain medications for you, there are strict criteria in place that you must adhere to. Writing for prescription pain medications requires a significant commitment from both patient and provider and is based on a relationship of trust. Any violation of our policies will be considered a breach of this trust and will result in the inability for us to continue writing prescription pain medications for you.
Whatever we do, our choices for your treatment will always be in your best interest. In light of this, we look to identify the correct cause of your pain as opposed to just covering up your symptoms with medication. Determining the correct diagnosis is a significant part of developing the correct treatment plan for you. To help us deliver the best care, our diagnostic and treatment plans may entail any or all of the following:
.1. Customized Rehabilitation Therapy2. Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies3. Optimizing Medication Management4. Image-Guided Targeted Injections5. Minimally Invasive Surgeries
